To make more interesting art requires a lot of factors. However, an artist also needs to remember that any creation is subjective to audience’s taste.

What one person might mildly like could be fabulous to another person and boring to someone else. So how do you make an interesting art? Answer is that you can’t please everyone but your art can definitely appeal to your ideal audience. You need to keep growing and keep refining your skills and you are good to go.

In this blog, I want to discuss few important factors in making interesting art. I am going to discuss these factors by referring to my painting “Vanity” of the “Multicoloured” series.

Important factors to make more interesting art:
Message:

When you are clear about the message you want to convey. You are at much better place. In my painting “Vanity”, I wanted to show vanity not from a superficial point but with a deeper feeling behind it.

Vanity stands for celebrating you and celebration of being alive. It is a reminder that it all starts with self love and self respect. Vanity is empowering, healing, mood enhancing, uniting and so much more!

However, most importantly it’s a reminder of that inner child who secretly used her mother’s lipstick and dreamt of growing up like her!

Hence, I knew from the beginning that the art needs to convey the basics of vanity that almost every female could relate to!

Elements to convey the message:

I was quite elated with the initial plan that I had for the artwork. However, I wasn’t particularly happy about not including nail paints in “Vanity”.

Initial direction of the painting felt incomplete

Nail paints are a crucial element when we talk of female vanity. Applying nail paint instantly lifts my spirit up and I am so fond of them. I am aware of lots of ladies who feel the same about nail paints as I do.

In short, “Vanity” painting was incomplete without including nail paints at some place in the painting.

Wholesome composition to make art more interesting:

I knew the element that was missing to convey the message more strongly. That element was nail paints.

Additionally, I could see some places in the painting where it felt like I like it needed more. Voila, just like that I found the perfect place to add the essential element to convey the message.

Final painting- “Vanity”

Placing nail paint at the perfect place in the painting gave it the much needed completion. The composition looked wholesome, relatable and so much more in harmony!

To conclude:

If you are clear on the message you want to convey, it could be a good place to think about making your art more interesting. While there are lots of other factors that can contribute to making an interesting art, trusting your instincts and the message are the ones you can start with!
