There are times when an artist just wants to paint without thinking much. You just want to go with the flow. I guess artists go through a lot of phases while painting. Painting without thinking is a very interesting thing to me.

Sometimes, you just paint with the flow and improvise it to be a finished painting while painting consciously in the later stages. For instance, when I painted “Night and Day”; it was more of painting with the flow. I didn’t force myself to think a lot. It was something coming naturally to me.

Night and Day

Of course, I had made paintings in my block styles earlier than I attempted to make “Night and Day”. I guess all the earlier practice was there in my subconscious mind and it just flowed when I made blocks and chose colors for the next painting.

There is kind of a magical quality when painting without thinking. For me, it’s abstract art in pure form. You just trust your abilities, guidance from the universe and you go for it. It’s a creative journey and it is worthwhile taking this journey.

Whether you are an artist or not, just try playing with colors and canvas and brushes some day. Don’t do much thinking. Don’t worry about perfection. Just let the flow going. You will be surprised at what’s the end result on the canvas.

Perhaps you will feel lighter after painting or you will find a hidden message in the painting or just be amazed at what was inside you or maybe something else. It’s an experience worth trying.
