Working on a painting after a break could be game changing for a painting. In one of my previous blog, I talked about leaving a painting aside for some time. Today, I particularly want to talk about the painting “Walking Ahead” in which I used this idea.
I am quite proud of the painting “Walking Ahead” for several reasons. One of the reasons is the final effects in the painting. These effects make me look at them with wonder.
How I approached working on a painting after a break?
Before giving final touches and effects to the painting, I had kept “Walking Ahead” painting aside for almost two weeks. There are various reasons where working on a painting after a break is a good idea.
When I kept “Walking Ahead” painting aside for two weeks, the colors got completely dry. Although, it might take just two or three days for a layer of oil coat to get dried, but to give some effects you need the paint to be completely dry.
After two weeks, I gave light effects (using light yellow color) on some of the completely dried brown areas of the painting. It was as if a new life was infused into the painting with just a few brush strokes.
The main contributor for these effects was the idea of leaving the painting aside for some time. Whenever this painting is viewed, it is these effects that grab the attention and become the focal point of the painting.
