Creativity Block is something that almost all artists face at some point of their life. Rather than feeling tensed about how to deal with creativity block, it’s possible to overcome it keeping a positive mindset. You never know you can turn out to be a stronger, more creative person once you break out of this block.

Various people suggest different approaches on how to deal with creativity block. Here are my top favorites:
  • Make your art anyway. Acknowledge that you are facing creativity block but don’t run away from your art. Sit in front of a blank canvas anyway and start creating or playing with colors. Make whatever comes naturally without over thinking. Let the universe guide you in your creation.
  • The second tip is from one of my favorite books on creativity – Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert (read full review of the book here). She states that meet your art by dressing yourself up. Perhaps put on your favorite lipstick/perfume before making your art. Present yourself to your art as if you are having a date with it. Respect yourself and your relationship with art.
  • Spend time with yourself. Yes, you heard it right. Go on that much awaited alone walk in your nearby park. Observe your feelings and your surroundings. Surrender yourself to nature.
  • Be mindful. Don’t worry too much thinking how to deal with creative block. Be fully present in the moment in whatever small/big things you do in your daily routine. Savor every moment and try to enjoy it. You never know when inspiration can strike again and what can be your source of inspiration.
  • Take creativity block as a sign that universe is telling you to relax. Don’t feel stressed or burden yourself or your art with lots of expectations. Think of your creativity as something that works best when it’s left free to flow.
