Even if you feel like painting, one thing that might stop you is thinking of ideas for painting canvas. It might be difficult to find ideas all of a sudden. While there are many ways to find ideas for painting canvas, let’s discuss a different approach to painting.
It’s great when you have an idea for painting and all you got to do is implement it or probably improvise it going further. However, when you have no clue what you are going to paint, even than you can start painting. Yes, you heard it right; one of the approaches to painting is to start painting spontaneously. Let me explain this approach with one of my oil painting as an example.
A different approach on ideas for painting canvas:
As already discussed in one of my previous blogs, you can use rollers to make a painting. This is exactly what was done for the painting being explained. With no particular idea in mind, I started moving rollers on canvas to get some basic structure to paint. Some random blocks and curves were made and then I started coloring those blocks and curves.
After painting for a while and putting several layers of oil paint coating on it, some clarity came to me. It was understood where I wanted to take the painting. It was just a matter of observation and I found that the black curves had a shape resembling those of peacock necks.
After changing the color of these black curves to the blue color of peacock and giving them a peacock head, I was on my path of finishing the painting.
All that was left was the final touch ups and finishing the painting and voila, the painting was ready!
The untitled painting was finally titled “Two peacocks in The City”.
